The Graduate Certificate in Global Surgical Care (GCGSC) is a 12-credit certificate program designed to meet the growing need for professional development in global surgical care.

Program Requirements
The Certificate is comprised of four graduate level online courses.
- SURG 510 – Surgical Care in International Health
- SURG 512 – Global Disability: A Surgical Care Mandate
- SURG 514 – Surgical Care in Humanitarian Disaster Response
- SURG 516 – Program Planning and Evaluation in Surgical Care Low Resource Settings
Students with an interest in global surgical care but who do not wish to complete the GCGSC can enroll in SURG 510 independently of the certificate.
The Graduate Certificate in Global Surgical Care (GCGSC) can ladder into the MGSC. Details about this process can be found in UBC’s transfer credit policy, outlined by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
