Graduate Feature: May Yau

May Yau is a Medical Radiation Technologist at Foothills Medical Centre, Alberta Health Services and an Instructor of Diagnostic Imaging at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

May’s credentials include: a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences from McMaster University; Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Medical Radiation Sciences and Radiography from Mohawk College; and a Computed Tomography Imaging Certificate from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. In addition, she is a Certified Medical Radiation Technologist in Radiography with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists and a  Certified and Registered Technologist in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Completing the MGSC allowed May to explore imaging from different perspectives, and its role in surgical care. In addition to sharing the knowledge she has acquired with colleagues, she hopes to show students how the material they are learning can be used to expand the provision of imaging. With a better understanding of how imaging accessibility impacts patient outcomes on the clinical pathway, the goal is to improve imaging access to help overcome rural health inequities.
