Michelle (Tran) Au is a General Surgery Resident at the University of Manitoba. She initially began the Graduate Certificate program and then realized that there is an abundance of knowledge in the field of global surgery that she wanted to continue to learn about. She plans to pursue a career in global surgery alongside a community general surgery practice in the future in an ethical, equitable, valuable, and sustainable manner. As a future community general surgeon who is interested in working with northern remote communities, she hopes to contribute to her community in a way that can help advocate for these issues and effectively collaborate with communities to better their health outcomes.
