Graduate Feature: Mathilde Djeneba Billau 

Dr. Mathilde Billau completed her medical degree at the University of Sherbrooke in 2023, after which she enrolled in the MGSC. Throughout her Masters, she has explored research interests in trauma surgery, surgical systems, and Indigenous health, with projects rooted in the Canadian context. She has also been actively engaged in global surgery advocacy and student leadership, representing organizations such as InciSion International and the Canadian Global Surgery Trainee Alliance.

After completing her MGSC she hopes to continue her training in General Surgery through residency, with the goal of building a career that integrates clinical practice with advocacy and research. She is committed to applying the lessons from her graduate work to improve access to surgical care in rural and remote Indigenous communities across Canada, including in Quebec, her home province.
