Alumni

MGSC UBC alumni are leaders and change-makers in global surgical care. Building on the program’s interdisciplinary training, graduates are driving impact in health systems strengthening, research, advocacy, and frontline care both locally and globally.

Many of our alumni, including Drs. Falk, Chin, Sama Philipo and Hilzenrat, have gone on to make significant academic contributions, including publishing influential scholarly work in global surgical care.

Our alumni are also leaders in diverse global surgical care organizations such as Canadian Global Surgery Trainees Alliance (CGSTA), International Surgery Students Network (InciSioN), University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA), Operation Smile, Team Broken Earth, and even the Senate of Canada!

We’re also proud that three alumni (Dr. Falk, Dr. Chin, and Dr. Sama Philipo) have returned to the program as faculty members, continuing the cycle of mentorship and impact! Click on the photos of our alumni to read more about them.
